Weird Stuff!

Post by Av8r1 »

Ever since I got back in to CB radio, which has been about a month or so now, I have been plagued with this real hard loud sporadic static.

Which I get on Channel 19. And even bleeds over to both channels 20 and 18. This static I get on both my base and mobile radios.

I finally noticed that in the mobile it would stop as I pulled away from the house. So I got to thinking it was picking up some kind of frequency or electrical thing in the house.

Sure enough, as I was down stairs using the base radio it started again. As I was listening to the static I noticed my son using the wireless mouse for the computer. Ahhhha...that was the culprit ! So any how that static from the mouse could be picked up all the way from out the basement to the end of our driveway.

Weird stuff.

ps I also have another weird sound I keep hearing on the mobile, but I'll save that one for another post.

Thanks

Are you close to power lines?

Yup, mine did that also. I scanned through using the connect button on the mouse cradle and that seemed to take care of the problem on 15-21 or so. Now it's on some higher channels. If it really starts to bug me I'll switch back to a corded mouse.

When I transmit on the CB, it kills my optical mouse. It just stops working. It's not even wireless. I have to unplug it and plug it back it to get it to work.
