Coaxial Cable - LMR400 Flex?
Coaxial Cable - LMR400 Flex?
Hi All,
Is anyone currently running LMR400 Flex coax in their mobile setup? I use this for my base but I am wondering if anyone has run this in a mobile application.
Thanks!

I agree that LMR-400 is excellent coax for almost any comm application, but I think it's overkill & a waste of time & money for mobile use because the length rarely exceeds 15-20 feet. At CB freqs., you could not see or hear a difference between 15 feet of LMR-400 vs 15 feet of good quality RG-8X type coax.

not only do i have alot less reflect with the lmr, i have smoked 213 in my mobile..... the lmr 400 will handle mega watts... and besides i spend thousands of dollars on equipment, why would i want to take a chance with just about the most important part....

Once you go wack you never go back, now its been awhile since I really laughted out loud but that one made me!!!
If your doing big bird watts LMR is great stuff, but its been said before so I wont be too long, if your not running big enough watts high end coax does zlitch. Its like putting 93 octane fuel in a lawn mower! unless you need it your wasting $. RG8X handles most 99% of peoples watts. Then RG213. If you need more then 213 in a moble you already know enough about systems to know what coax you need!! If you wonder what LMR 400 or 600 is then you prob dont need it!!! :D
