Antenna Noise

#289381

Post by weedge »

Hey guys I need some help. I bought a wilson mag mount a couple months ago and it worked great. I installed it on another vechile while my truck was in the shop. When I reinstalled it on my truck I now have a terrible noise problem. I tried unhooking the antenna and the noise goes away. I have a 6-7 noise level all the time. Have visably checked tha antenna and dont't see any obvious problems, kinked coax etc. Need some advise. Thanks

If the installation is exactly as it was, I'd ask what kind of work did you have done to your truck? Perhaps the mechanic didn't quite tighten something back up properly on the alternator, or bumped a ground strap loose, or a whole host of possible things that he could have done...assuming of course you are parked where you always do and get the noise no matter where you drive. All kinds of things outside of the vehicle can cause noise, too. So take a drive and see if it goes away.

Just a few thoughts to consider.

Thanks 231

I hadn't thought about the mechanic. He worked on the clutch but you never know what he might have knocked loose. I'll try that. I have been driving the truckto work all week and the noise level is there most all the time. I was hoping that it was just bad conditions but I talked to some guys on the drive to work and they did not have the problem. Maybe I'll get luckey and find something loose under the hood. Thanks for the advise.
