Quick Dipole question

#284698

Post by 762Rodney »

I put new wires on my dipole rig, is it ok to seal off the connections with electrical tape? I want to weather proof it real good so I's thinkin about wraping up the midsection (I do not know the proper term for it, splitter?) with tape so its water proof.

I use silicon to seal it.

The only thing I'd really worry about 'sealing' is the coax. The rest of the antenna isn't all that critical with water/weather. Several ways of doing that sealing, so do whichever you're comfortable with.

I agree. The coax by far is the most important to keep moisture out of. If you want to seal the legs up too, that's okay...and electrical tape certainly won't hurt. I like using liquid tape myself. Seals up pretty well.
