Dipole Antenna

Just got a workman BS-1 dipole. I am thinking of putting it in the second story of my house by some windows but the house has a metal roof on it. How will this affect things? or should I try to mount it on the outside of the house?

If you have the option, put it outside, in the clear, a 100 yards away from everything. Yeah, right, so do the best you can. Any metal around an antenna will affect it in some way, so your metal roof will affect your antenna's performance. I won't try to predict how it'll affect it, there's just too many possibilities for that. It won't be the 'best', but so what if it means you can use it, right?
