High SWR's
well i run a 102" on my truck and i used to have it mounted on the center of the bed rail behind my rear window.
i decided that i wanted it higher for better results, so i ran a 1 1/2" square tube from the inside of my bed rail rite in center behind my rear window to above my cab.
i used a mirror mount for the top, ran my coax, ran a ground, hooked the meter up and WOW!
SWR's were all the way up at 3.5.
tried running the ground to different parts of the frame but still stayed in the red.
anyone know anything that'll help?
or have had this problem before?

Either your metal square tube is not getting a good ground, or you have a bad coax connector, OR, you have the Mirror Mount, mounted wrong and is grounding out the antenna...(may have left off a plastic spacer, or have the plastic spacer on the wrong side of the mount)
3.0+ SWR is almost always a sign of a bad ground, or connector bad, or maybe a bad place in the coax...I would first try a different coax, and see what happens...

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

ya the coax is pretty much new and it worked fine before, i'll try running more grounds.
where the mount clamps onto the tubing there is no paint.
would that make a difference? maybe if i paint it so it cuts out the contact.
thanks for the info jesse.

okay, so i ran 2 grounds,
1 was on the screw on the mount and the other is just wrapped around the mount.
i also took my spring off and the swr's came down to 1.7
i'm still not sure what else i need to do.
any help?
