stealth mobile antenna

I would like to find a stealth antenna like the bazooka/dipole for a mobile application. Is there such a thing? Back in the day, late 70”s a buddy of mine had something like this in his pickup. I have looked all over the web and can’t find anything like this to run mobile.

One of many choices. Lots of disadvantages, however.

I work as a paramedic. Our ambulance service covers a part urban part rural county of southwestern PA. The high band VHF radios in the ambulances output 110 watts FM. The Motorola radios were custom order, the stock Motorolas made currently are 50 watt VHF high band. Some of the newer ambulance we have a stealth type antenna that is made to look like a small dorsal fin on the roof. This antenna in no way compares to a base loaded stainless steel whip on the front fender. Radio whip the base load whip will out talk the stealth antennas any day. There is no compromise from metal in the air. You have put a lot of time and work into your radios. You will not be happy a gimic antenna. If to want stealth a K30 is a tad smaller than a Lil Wil and will still throw a good siginal. The K30 comes will a great warranty. I used to have a Astatic cell phone look alike. It will give you two miles on a constant basis when properly tuned back in 1994. It will rust quickly.

This isn't going on my car, I have a good antenna. I get asked by others that only want a mile or two range, just for monitoring road conditions and such while traveling and they don't want a visible antenna on their car. I tell them they won't be happy, it's their car, not mine.

If you're willing to put up with some compromises, a 'stealth' antenna ought'a work reasonably well for you. There are certain 'sizes' that work very well for a particular band. If you reduce that 'size' then it won't work quite as well. No way around that fact, it's just a fact. But, if some reduction in 'performance' is acceptable, then reducing the 'size' is certainly one way of doing things. 'Compromises' and 'reasonably' are very... variable. What 'works' for some, may not 'work' for others. 'Course, the other end of that 'stealth' thingy is to make the antenna so big and ugly that no on in their right mind would want it!
