I live in a small town. There are some base stations that talk on either ch 21 or ch 30, they are pretty good to talk with.

On AM the locals mostly talk on 16, a lot of 4x4 enthusiasts so, yeah 4x4=16, a little bit o redneck math nerd which is odd but okay...
For Sidebanders, 38 USB as it tends to give a good mix of locals and skip...I've talked to a guy the next neighborhood over, and talked with guys in Arizona, they both sounded local to me...

We get some activity on Thursday"s channel after 8pm on 16 LSB with the old timers.
