peak and tune?????

peak & tune? what's that ? all i know is a super wack pack!!!!!!!!!!! after i got my gen lee s/w/p w/ my 350 texas star i get out like never before.. just this week while in coldwater mi a driver who was going in the opposite direction.. we were seeing how far our radios would get out. i could barly hear him, after 13 mi. the last thing he said was your still slamming my needle & your walking the dog & punching the cat. as the phrase goes. lol . i never got these type of radio checks until i got a ra radio. in grand rapids people there said i was blowing them across the town.... thanks to mike at r

believe me, after everything i hear about the general lee s/w/p radios from ra on this forum, i would love to have one.............it's just not in the cards right now...............got to much going on to be able to afford that right now too................so my little cobra 29 (which i did get for free by the way) will have to do for awhile.....

DONT 4-GET JIM THATS WITH A AMP... IF I WERE ON A FLAT NO HILLS E.T.C. & ON A CLEAR CHANNEL, I BET I COULD GO 20 MI. MAYBE??? BUT I DID HEAR THE DRIVER CALL OUT HIS YARDSTICK & SINCE WE WERE GOING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS AT 60 M.P.H. WE WERE PUTTING DISTANCE BETWEEN US REAL QUICK. SO FROM THE TIME HE SAID I WAS SLAMMING HIS NEEDLE & WALKING THE DOG TO THE TIME I RESPONDED WE WERE ANOTHER 1/4 TO 1/2 MILE FARTHER APART. SO JUST GUESSING ON HOW FAR I COULD REALLY GET OUT. WHATS FUNNY IS AFTER WE TALKED A FEW MINUTES, I STARTED TALKING TO ANOTHER DRIVER BECAUSE HE FADED AWAY. WELL AFTER MAYBE 2 -3 MIN I TURNED MY SQELCH DOWN & PICKED UP THE PREVIOUS PERSON I WAS TALKING TO I BARELY HEARD HIM. THEN I SAID IS THAT YOU? ARE YOU STILL THERE ? CAN YOU REALLY STILL HEAR ME? HOLY SH-- !! THATS WHEN HE FADED TOTALLY.. I WAS ABSOLUTELY THRILLED.
HEY... YA KNOW I FORGOT TO MENTION I WAS RUNNING A 10-K BUT IT IS IN PRO. BUT YEAH EVERYTHING MAKES THE DIFFERENCE. NOW I GOT ONE MORE THING FOR YA IF YA CAN BELIEVE THIS.... I TOOK MY SET UP FROM RA WHEN I GOT IT. EVERYTHING NEW & FROM RA. O.K.? I TOOK ANTENNA OUT OF CYLINDER HOOKED UP NEW CO-AX RADIO ... WHOLE 9 YARDS. WENT 3 WEEKS DRIVING WITHOUT GETTING ANTENNA TUNED. EVERY RADIO CHECK OR PERSON I TALKED TO SAID I WAS SOUNDING GREAT & DONT LET ANYONE TOUCH IT... WELL I FIGURED IF I SOUND THIS GOOD NOW.. IMAGINE HOW MUCH BETTER I'LL GET OUT WHEN I HAVE THE ANTENNA TUNED. SO I FINALLY GOT TIME TO STOP AT A REPUTABLE C.B. SHOP. I TOLD HIM THAT I JUST HOOKED UP EVERYTHING FROM THE BOX.. SWR'S WERE 1.1.. HE ASKED HOW DID I GET THE SWR'S THAT LOW? MUST BE LUCK I TOLD HIM. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SWR'S OR HOW TO GET THE READING TO GO ONE WAY OR ANOTHER... THEN HE OFFERED ME A JOB TO JUST TAKE ANTENNA'S OUT OF THE BOX & INSTALL THEM ON TRUCKS WITHOUT TESTING EQUIP.. LOL I KNOW HE WAS JOKING. BUT I MUST HAVE JUST HIT THE THE RIGHT SPOT ON THE APPLICATION OF THIS PRED 10-K.. A 1.1 SWR HE SAID IS VERY UNUSUAL BY JUST PUTTING PEICES TOGETHER...
dang.............go ahead troy...........that's awsome.......i know i'll get myself a better radio one day..........especially here in new jersey...........i drive locally in south jersey, just over the bridge is philly.......everybody just keeps stepping on one another(guess it's like that near all the major cities though).........but it would be nice to just blow them all out of the water............

WELL CHOPCORE.. I WOULD GO WITH ONE OF 2 WAYS.. EITHER A GEN LEE WITH A AMP OR A CONNEX 4600 TURBO. THAT IS THE 2 CHOICES IT CAME TO FOR ME ANYWAY. A 4600 S/W/P BECAUSE OF THE BUILT IN AMP WILL DO 205 WATTS. NOW THE GEN LEE LIKE I GOT WITH THE TS 350 WILL DO MORE, BUT I LIKE THE 46OO CAUSE YOU DONT NEED TO FIND A PLACE FOR THE AMP OR RUN ANY MORE WIRES. THOUGH WITH ME... I HAVE A BIG TRUCK PLUS A P-UP & A VAN, SO I'LL WIND UP BUYING MORE & MOVING THE SET UP'S FROM THE BIG TRUCK TO CAR & UPGRADING THE TRUCK SETUP. OVER TIME OF COURSE...KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE SALES ON RADIOS & AMPS RIGHT HERE ON THIS FORUM...

By the way, SWP General Lee with a 300+ watt box and Predator 10K can do 20+ miles, and pretty much dominates the first 5 miles.
troy, do you find that people talk to you differently on that setup, compared to your past radios?

YEAH. PEOPLE DO RESPOND DIFFERENT, THAT I HAVE MORE POWER. BUT I'M NOT SURE IT IS MORE RESPECT.. I THINK IT'S MORE LIKE BEFOE THEY COULD NOT HEAR OR UNDERSTAND ME OVER ALL ELSE OUT THERE. I KNOW I WILL HEAR SOMEONE & THEY WILL SOUND LIKE THEY ARE WHISPERING FROM A DRUM. I HAVE TO ROLL UP MY WINDOWS, TURN EVERY SOUND OFF IN MY TRUCK & STRAIN TO HEAR PART OF WHAT THEY SAY. WHY BOTHER? NOT TO BE RUDE. I HAVE ALWAYS TALKED TO ANYONE NO MATTER HOW SMALL A RADIO THEY HAVE. BUT OTHERS DONT. BUT WHO WANTS TO KEEP ASKING SOMEONE OVER & OVER WHAT DID YOU SAY? dont be mistaken cobras can be made to sound evily mean. with few modifacations. thay might not have 80watt finals or a built in amp but i can get a cobra to dead key 1/2 watt and swing 22 and still have the modulation peak out @ only 110% (anything higher makes the radio sound like garbage). and that parts can easly be bought @ radioshack. for under 10 bucks.
