Uniden Grant xl

After I bought my General Lee I decided to pull out of my closet a Uniden Grant I had bought of few years back and put in my pick up. Is this a decent radio ? I know it can't touch my general lee but can it be made to push any amount of watts. It was peaked and tune at a shop in Hickory. However I notice when I key up it has a very large dead key and know change on the meter when you talk. No swing at all. Did the shop tune it wrong or is there a different ways to tune radios. Do I need to find someone else to look at it.?I would like to keep it because it has upper and lower side bands in case I get into that.

good radio,,if it wasn't set to run an amp, the shop just turned up the watts to max,,,when you set for an amp,,,,,you want low dead key and high swing,,,
