Hi, im new to cb radios and i really want to get into them but i cant get my setup to work. First i have a uniden pc78elite with a wilson whip antenna 4ft 1,000 watts. I have the antenna mounted on my side rail of my truck its grounded and i have an swr tuner but i cant tune it or even get it in a low enough range to use. It also is picked up on my cars speakers so i can hear myself talking. any help would be great!

Welcome. First of all, do you know how to use the meter? Key up, with it on calibrate, turn the calibrate knob to cal, switch to reflect and you should get a reading, on most meters. What is the swr? If the antenna is too close to the cab you may have an issue. Also, make sure the coax is not shorted out. You can do this with an ohm meter. Can you hear other stations?

You have some major setup issues.... Are both radio and antenna new or used..? What condition is the cable...? I know some vehicle radios are susceptable to RFI from CB's but not many. Am is usually bled over easily. I recall an ampped radio bleeding over a car radio a lot....

I am asking these questions as this is what the techs will need to know in order to further troubleshoot the problem (s)

I am novice but I know sometimes what questions need to be asked in order to verify what direction the tech needs to go. You will find some good ideas very soon as this forum is full of experienced techs and they are most helpful....

I am sure they will have more questions for you also.... Hang in there...... You will be helped much more very soon....

Only thing I can thnk of is make sure when tuning you are making very small adjustments. Also make sure all the connections are good and that everything is in good shape overall.

PLAY TRUCK Cobra 29 NWST peaked and tweaked
