102" whip questions???????
does it matter if its mounted on top of your vehicle or could it be mounted on the side or say between the cab and the headache rack . i have severe grounding issues and have a super hard time getting SWR's on out of the box cobra to get under a 3 . i want to do a 4600T install but am lost on as to what antenna and where to put it. It being i like a single antenna set-up BUT i work in the woods and need a indestructable antenna . thats where i was thinking of going with a 102" and mounting it on the side of the headache rack and running up to a height of 13' 6". to be under the ports height lazers and on the side of the rack it would put the antenna inside mirrors to protect from the CARNIVOROUS ANTENNA EATING TREES hehehe i run on logging roads and pipelines any help or suggestions would be great... O and running a ground strap from antenna to frame my headache rack is aluminum box style

first the swr is not in the radios
second you put that 102 between the cab and the headrack you wont have that 4600 very long
in the corner by the tailgate drill 4 holes and mount a mirror bracket and make sure you shine the paint away

the reason i want to mount it in the rear of the vehicle is due to tree damage on my previous antennas and the mirrors are not mounted directly to the cab they are kinda floating mounts its a 05 peterbilt. not a very good ground hard to keep my swrs below a 3 ??? i was thinking of mounting on the side of the headache box . this would put the antenna inside mirror width of the truck and to the rear of the vehicle my only concern is there will be about 3 or 4 feet of the antenna next to the box ill take some pics and post later . im taking my time on this and want to do it right the first time dont want to ruin my new radio. and i want it to be a good setup i have 3 others that need to be done after i figure mine out. thanx again for all the advice
