can you get the swr on an antron below 1.4? im just wondering what i need to do to get it below that just in case i want to run some power

I would think it should be possible to get the SWR slightly lower than a 1.4:1. I also think that 1.4:1 is pretty good, and wouldn't worry about it, amplifier or no amplifier.

I use to have an antron with 1.1:1 I had an old buddy of mine help me with it. We adjusted the rings until we got it there.

I have two A99's, one with top section cut for 10 meters, never had a problem tuning either to 1:1. Make sure you ground the antenna well. I run fairly good gauge wire, pinch it between the U clamp and the antenna base, run it to a 6' ground rod pounded into the ground. Make sure you have a proper connector to hook up the ground wire to that ground rod.

I never did get the SWR down below 1.4 on the A99 I had years ago. Well grounded, good coax, etc...
I never was impressed with the performance of that particular antenna either. I guess I am just too darn old school and prefer aluminum tubing, or the standard dipole, depending
on the frequency and design.
