What does a 27" shank mean? I was looking at the predator 10k. Thanks for all the help.
That 'shank' is the mast under the coil(s).
There's nothing special about an antenna for that 'General Lee', any decent antenna should work just fine. Making that antenna resonant and matching input impedances (low SWR) would be nice. After that, it's a matter of what antenna(s) do you have, or have access to, or can afford, or have room for.

What Doc said..........all the antennas mentioned so far are good antennas, and overkill? Whats that? I might be crazy but to me there is no such thing, as long as you can afford it! I know you mentioned 48 in max for height, but I would like to say the taller the better.
Whatever goes around, comes back around.......sooner or later.

I would consider bigger, but I an trying to avoid it rubbing on the fender. If i order a 10x, would i order the 48" with a 27" shaft, or how would i order that. The wilsons, all i see are mag mounts, is there a way to convert it to the fender mount.

Here is my work van, with a 27" lower shaft, Predator 30K mounted on the fender....(The 30K uses a aluminum rod instead of a stinger on top.)mark223 wrote:I would consider bigger, but I an trying to avoid it rubbing on the fender. Just order a Single Coil Predator 10K, with the 27" lower shaft...(Lower shaft is the part under the coil)
Most sites will have a drop down menu that will let you pick out which lower shaft you want when ordering. If you don't see that, then you may have to call to place the order, or look for a different shop that sells all the different shaft sizes...
Keep in mind, the Single Coil Predator 10K is going to tune tall...About 7' total... The Dual Coil 10K's tune about a foot shorter but it is NOT recommended to use a 27" shaft with these...On a Dual Coil 10K you get more wind drag from the coils which puts stress on the taller shafts...

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Jessejames, how tall is that antenna? After looking at yours, I think I will go with something under the 27" it just looks to odd to me. Thanks for the help.
