May I paint my Antron 99 camo????
I was thinking of trying to blend my antenna into the trees a little bit with some camo spray paint. The white just stands out like a sore thumb, I prefer to give it a green thumb! ha! Does anyone think that painting it will cause any performance issues?

Yes you can. Paint will not interfere with the antenna performance.
However, it is well known that painting an antenna pink will improve it's performance.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
If that paint isn't conductive, doesn't contain any metallic stuff, it ought to do just fine. I think I'd mask the joints and insulators though.

Yes you may.
Now this is one polite member right here. Posting up to ask the membership collective if we will allow him to paint his antenna.
Just having a bit of fun with you. What they said, you can paint it any color you want as long as you don't use a paint with high metal content.

awesome folks. I am gonna start painting tonight as long as its not raining again! Of course, I do lust the smell of spray paint in confined improperly ventilated areas.

Why not just find a 20 foot piece of wide camo adhesive material/tape? I'm sure a graphics place could source you some, then you could peel it off once you realize pink is your color.
Seriously tho, I'd think you'd want to rough it up before painting so the results are better.

Here's the reason for 'pink' being the best color for an antenna.
Imagine you are an electron. You've been tasked with carrying a part of a signal to some other place. You are generated by the transmitter and sent on your way up the feed line to the antenna to be radiated. Imagine your surprise when you are radiated and you look back to see where you are going from. You see this 'pink' thingy! You are a highly charged, 'manly' electron. You will be very embarrassed to see you came from that 'pink' thingy, and want to get away from it as fast as you can! Right? So, electrons from a 'pink' antenna travel faster than from any other color of antenna.
That's the transmitted electron's point of view.
Now, think of the 'other side' of that, the receiving side. You are an electron that's been sent from another station. You are happily traveling alone and you suddenly see this 'pink' thingy. You wonder, "What the #3|| is that?", and go look. What you haven't considered is that since 'pink' as a color for an antenna really "sucks", you will be captured by that 'pink' antenna and sent down the feed line to the receiver! 'Pink' antennas really 'hear' well, capture electrons really well. (Tell me you don't look at 'pink' thingys if/when you see them!)
Makes sense, doesn't it?

There's more to it, but that covers the important parts. I'd tell you about that "more" part, but I'm just not sure you are ready for it.
