Maco 103 how high
How high should i put my maco 103 can you put to high and not get out and hear good.
General consensus is the higher the better. One wavelength (aprox. 36 ft.) to the boom will be fine, and is the usual benchmark people shoot for. Above that is better still.
Contrary to popular belief, you can definitely get an antenna 'too high'! You typically know that happens when the feed line won't reach the antenna. The common 'cure' is to extend the length of the feed line. Then, the antenna is no longer 'too high'.

Hey Doc-
I need one of those feed line extenders, the CB Shop at the local Pilot doesn't carry them. Who makes a good one?

Insanity is hereditary......you get it from your children.
Light beacons.
Aside from just the paper work, have you ever seen the price of the beacons you have to use on a tower that high? You definitely want to be sitting down when you do!

Nuthin' to it. Just hook up a bunch o' LED's to a wall wart.................ten fer?

As a matter of fact...
There are LED beacons available now! Not exactly what you find at Radio Shack, and no wall-wart powers them, but dang sure LEDS. You'd still better sit down.
