K30 ANTENNA?
Anyone ever use a K30 antenna? I need a short antenna so I can get into the garage. I have a Wilson 1000 magnet mount and taking it off to go into the garage is getting old. I know the K30 won't work as well as the 1000 but I need something shorter. Any suggestions? It is mounted in the center of my roof.

I had one. It worked pretty good. I would keep the Wilson 1K if I were you.

Hi 007
I have used both the K-30 and the Lil' Wil. I prefer the the Lil' by Wilson. I would agree with Mikey B that you should keep the Wilson 1000. I know it is a pain to have to remove it for clearance, but it will outperform both of the shorter antennas I mentioned. I use a Wilson 1000 trunk mount myself and have found it to work better than most of the antennas I have tried over the years.
Just my 2 cents.
Respectfully,

Hey 007,
Leave the Wilson 1000 and get used to taking it off everytime you park in the garage.
Sometimes....you just gotta sacrifice.

Instead of the K30 why not replace your wilson whip with the Wilson Short Load Antenna?
I haven't used one. But I am considering trying one out when I go on vacation

What about the Wilson 500? But +1 for a 1000!! I use mine on a daily basis. I avoid low clearance garages so I don't have to stop and remove the 1K. I also have a wilson lil wil and it's size is it's major downfall. My 2¢'s.

from what i have heard from every one mounting a antenna on you bumper should be the last resort. they perform better on the trunk and best in the middle of the roof. have you tryed a K40? (yes i know the will1000 is better) but the k40 has a quick disconnect that with only a 1/4 of turn the antenna and coil come right off.. I know you can unscrew the willson antenna and coil but the K40 is way faster to disconnect.. i just would not recommend running too much watts through the k40 cuz she will blowrattlesnake wrote:What about a firestik or a francis 4ft or 5ft bumper mount or a 3ft firestik...
