everyone has an opinion and mine is get 1 really good swr/power meter and trust it. cause I went and had two antenna anylizers put on my setup and both my meters read way over 2:1 after the "tune". I couldnt hear much and so I just put the antenna back where I tuned it and checked it with two more meters (OCD i know) and they all read flat. IMO they are just another device for a company to make to earn $$$$. IMO keep it simple. sorry just had to get that out still a little disturbed over the whole deal. Wrong Way

Antenna analyzers are not a universal 'cure all'. They do work, and they can certainly tell you more than a simple SWR meter. They also require a little knowledge to make them work, and to understand what they are telling you. (Dang near like an air gauge for tires, huh?)
And like anything made by man, there are some with 'goofs', 'lemons'. I'm the only thing in this world that's perfect! (You believe that, right?) They are not for everyone for who knows what reasons. And that's okay too. You can say the same thing for Corvettes...

Agreed, Doc. I have and use an MFJ 259 analyzer, but always verify antenna tuning with ye olde outboard SWR meter under real-world power. But then, I'm a Virgo, a bloody perfectionist.

Someone explain this to me:

The first two analayzer links were about 60 bucks for that model.


The Last link looked like the same analzyer but it was 243.00 bucks!!!

I'm thinking typo on the first two??

Of course, using the SWR meter is the best way to go when finding your actual SWR. However, the antenna analyzers are great tools for telling you where the antenna is resonant and where it is not. They are extremely useful when setting up a multiband antenna.

I like those too. They were pretty much the first ones on the market. Been around since the late 80s I think. I like the graph display over the MFJ.

I've never used one of the 'AEA' analyzers. Was afraid to look at the prices (health conditions you know). All things considered, I think you should send yours to me to evaluate, try out on a few things. No matter what I think about it, I promise I will return it. Eventually. If I remember. If I don't loose your address.
