Hello to everyone, I was trying out a couple of different antenna's today and I went back to the Wilson FGT 4 ft. OK here's the setup the FGT is mounted behind my cab on a mirror mount, with that little wire that is attached to the antenna is mounted to the mount also, now my swr's are as follows Ch 1 is 1.5.6 Ch 19 is 1. needle barely moved on this channel that's why I say it is 1. and on Ch 40 it is 1.5.6. Now is this good swr's ? I cant seem to get them below the 1.5 on all channel's

At that ratio your safe with the radio. You'd be losing some power on the transmit side but not much. If you were running an amp then it would help to have it lower. It's probaly to close to the cab of the truck and getting some reflection. By what you stated that it's higher at both ends of the frequency range it is showing to a litte short.

What are the chances of slipping a washer or two under where the antenna screws into the mount? That would extend it a little bit, probably enough to see some kind of difference. Got to be careful with that washer idea, have to leave enough usable threads to hold things together.

Or pull that cap off the top and look down in there. Is there a loose wire that you might pull up just a bit to make it longer??
