I've acquired a wilson 2000 trucker antenna with a 10" shaft and 3 -5" mag mount base.
I already cut the coax back on the mag and reattached it with a new right angle 205 connecter. i also put a new 259 on. I've cleaned all the connections between the shaft and such and i am having a swr problem.
when i put the center of the 259 into the radio it works fine with 1:1 swr but when i put the collar of the 259 on it goes to 3? I've moved the stinger up all the way and down still high. Do i just have to snip it until it comes down or is the 1:1 a lack of connection that is fooling my meter?
help is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

High SWRs on trucker 2000
You see, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin at him. Now if you apologize-like I know you're going to-I might convince him that you really didn't mean it..."
Educated guest would be a short in the ground of the connector. When you soldered on the coax more them likely there is one or two strands of ground wire touching the coupler and grounding it out.Brid Dog wrote: when i put the center of the 259 into the radio it works fine with 1:1 swr but when i put the collar of the 259 on it goes to 3?
