honest opinion on monkey mades

ok so i got a killer deal on a monkey made MM-5, now for right now i just want an antenna that'll work good. now i know everyone keeps saying the pred 10k is king, but for the deal i got on this monkey made i had to go for it. are the monkey mades really all that different? i mean would i notice that much of a difference between a 10k and a MM-5?

As far as weight of the antenna itself goes, the MM is heavier than the 10K.
As far as performance goes, it varies from setup to setup but I know a few people who have tried a 10K and tested it out then tried a MM and the MM had better RX and TX in their particular setup. I have heard more stories of people switching from MM to 10K's than vice versa though. The only way you'll ever really know is to get one of each and test em. The MM isn't a loser by any means though so if you got a good deal on it, then go with it. :)

That is there only down fall is that they are very heavy and you better have a super heavy duty mount or you will be breaking mounts!!!

MM are a good antenna. Preditors are great antenna's. If your not afraid to slap some things around. MFJ-1966, 108'' antenna if the way to go IMO. BUt its like everyone else has said in this thread. Different antenna will act different on vereus set ups.
