i have a wilson 1000 on my trunk. fake convertible keeps me off the roof. i am thinking of changing it to either a 102/108 steel whip or the predator 10k. what do you guys think would be the best to go with?

I'd say either antenna would work fine. The 102/108 will make you look like an RC car. But I think a 102 looks better than a 10k, but that's my opinion.

Personally, I'd keep what you already have if it's working okay. I'm sure there would be some diffrence but not sure if it would be worth the cost of changing. Up to you.

In my opinion I would keep the Wilson 1000.

The only way I would replace it is if the coil on the antenna is lower than the roof line.

If you do that, then you may as well just get one of those stick-on window antenna's...Because having the coil below the roof line, you wouldn't be getting out across the street!

Well since he has a Wilson 1000 on a trunk lip mount, where do you think the coil is in relation to the roof?

10k would have my vote. Although I'm a fan of the 102" whip, on some cars it just doesn't "look" right. I don't have a 10k (yet) but based on all the feed back I've seen over the years it either comes close to or exceeds the performance of a 102" SS whip (depending on the installation I'm sure). And without question, the 102" SS whip out performs the Wilson 1k/2k series...even the trucker. So if more performance is what you are after, that is a step in the right direction IMO.

Good luck.
