Called 55 today
And I'm gonna be sending him money on tuesday to get my 55-r4s for the mobeal.
He seems like a nice guy, and said that he usually gets the antennas out the next day, which is very impressive when they are made-to order.
I'll post up results as soon as I get the antenna mounted up on the truck.
870 backin on down...BUMP BUMP

if you go to the fatboy site, then go to antennas, and the antennas with fb before it are 55 antennas. they are cheaper to get directly from 55 though, he doesn't do stingers, but he reccomends using 102's cut down. Chargers do come with stingers, but still costs more than a 55 and a 102...i did the mathGrump wrote:does he have a web page to see what he makes

55 antenna is a nice antenna i use them for my backups
only problem is had with the 55 antennas is the top section above coil where stinger goes in gets really warm almost to warm to touch
and i have some tough hands and that pretty warm
i fixed the problem :
took the stinger out drilled out the hole to 3/8 X24 thread and screwed in the bottom section of 102 whip and chopped it down
heat has not been back
i had 3 of these antennas an all 3 had the same heat problem
other than that the 55 is a great antenna
the 10k has never had a heat issue after keydown
but these are the only 2 antennas i will run on my suburban

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone
I have been focusing my money and effort on the mobeal first, then i'll do the base afterwards.Foxhunter wrote:What ever happened to your attempts at a base setup? You'd had a decent Cobra 139XLR too....I tried to help you out with your questions you sent via PM a number of times. You never did it? Just wondering what happened?the_junkie wrote: same here...
if i only had a base!!!
Things just weren't working out financially to do both at once, so i'm putting the base off for now
what kinda RMS were you running through it when it would get hot?North Texas Mudduck wrote:55 antenna is a nice antenna i use them for my backups
