Predator 10K's are a "Coiled" antenna...they are electricaly equal to a 108" Whip (1/4 wave)...For as that go's...so is a Wilson 5000, 102" Whip with a spring, Monkey Made, 55's, and the stick-on window cell-phone look-a-like CB antenna....

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

coils load the antenna by induction, providing the appropriate impedance where the antenna is fed...... it's not merely the extra length needed to make 1/4 wave wrapped up.....
Channel 32, or sometimes 33 and or 34......

Someone told ya wrong, lol. It's barely 1/4 wave, let alone 1/2 wave.

Hey, there's a person locally that drives an old Chevy Beretta with a Antron 99 on the receiver hitch on the back...there's ya a half wave.

If you stretched out a 10k it might be closer to a half wave than a quarter wave, but that's just because depending on the coil construction, the material in the coil has to be much longer physically than it would have to be in non coil form. Some coils contain twice the amount of length in conductor that you would need if you were running it in a straight line. However, it is the overall PHYSICAL length that will determine its performance in the real world. Well, that and several other factors, like coil placement, diameter, etc. Just to give you an idea, a half wave on this band is about 17 feet long, and even if it was a half wave tall from the mount up it wouldn't work in the feedpoint/swr department without some matching, as it needs to look like an odd multiple of a quarter wave to work, so it needs to look like 1/4 or 3/4 to work.

The truth? The 10k is less than a quarter wave, somewhere in the 1/5 category in the case of my single coil
