The new guy has another ? or 2.
Ok so I am going to set up a base useing my radio out of my truck Galaxy 959 fully worked over will be getting a amp soon. So I have a yard full of trees and the little woman said I cannot hire someone to put one in the top so how high do I need to be able to talk? They are all pines tall ones with no low libs I would say the lowest would be mybe 30 feet and the tops are not that full yes I live in the woods. Also what would be the best antena for me to use and coax. I have plenty of power 11-95 volt 400 amp power supply.

I've got an Antron99/gpk, on a piece of 16' galv. chain link fence top rail, ratchet strapped in the top of an 80' pine...
107' to the top of the antenna ...I'm using the RG-8U coax and my swr's are 1.2:1 in the middle...
I live in timber country and talked to a logger and his nephew set me up for $30+beer...
ask around, there should be some youngers around that will climb a tree for cheap...
the ANTRON99, IMAX2000, PATRIOT etc., are fairly stealth and have very little wind load so you can have an extended mast for extra height to get above the treetops...the higher the better
