JesseJamesDallas is ultimately the one to ask. I will say that the single-coil longer shafts seem to be preferred (around 17-inches). Let him or another tell you exactly, I haven't placed on on a small truck. The Bull wrote:I am looking to get a 10K, what size should i use for mounting on top of a truck on a mag mount?
However I can say for almost certain that the single mag-mount base will not be enough probably to hold that antenna up at highway speeds. It will probably need a tri-mag or a quad-mag to keep her up there and from losing it.

I run one with a 9 inch shaft but many many including Jesse will recommend the 17 inch shaft. They say it matches better, but I've had great luck with mine and it was I think a single adjustment and matched. I hear it has something to do with coil proximity to the roof but that makes no since to me- some antennas have the coil right at the base, so go figure. Great product though, very lightweight and works well. Antenna theory wise, the further up the coil is, the more efficient it will be, I just bought what my guy had that day but plan to change it out. -drdx
Yes it's me, Dollar-98, drdx, the original all maul, shot cawla on workin this no-fade technology.

What they said!
17" single coil would be the best broad banded set-up you could go with (works great with the Export Radios if your thinking of doing a little "Free-Banding")...But if your just planning on staying on the regular CB channels, then You may want to go with the 17" shaft, single coil "Comp" version...
It's a little more narrow banded than the rest, but if your going to mostly stay on the 11 meter band, it's the way to go. On a Field Test meter, the Comp 10K shows a stronger signal than the regular 10K's. (It will also be a little shorter in height, after it's tuned, than the regular single coil 10K)

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
I've had a 12" shaft single coil 10K on a tri-mag mount on top of a 05 Tacoma, a F250, a Toyota Sequoia, and an Infiniti G20. Held on at 90 mph with no problems.
Right now I've got a 102'' whip w/ spring on top of the Tacoma (workin on getting the SWR's down) and the tri-mag is holding it on with no problems either.
SWR with the 10K on every single vehicle it has been on has been 1.2 or less on all 40 channels.

I can't wait till my 17" comp. shows up. I thought it would have been here today, but the weather out here must be slowing things down a bit. I was pacing around all day waiting for the brown truck to come. I also ordered a tri mag mount and plan on putting it up on the roof of my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Sounds like I shouldn’t have any problems keeping it on up there.

i told kale from now on when i order 10ks dont send me nothing but comp coils
and the stingers are fantastic
and as for the Bull the truck ?
it it a single cab or extended quadcab?
17 inch shaft or like stated above a longer shaft like the 22 inch shaft will tune even better
magmount right at the back of the cab

Quad Mount will work...Tri mag will work just as well also. But, I will say this, sometimes it's better to go ahead and get the quad mount, if your roof has 5 rib's running down the thing...A quad mount can straddle the center rib better and give you more options for mounting locations. The Bull wrote:im gettin down to choose the antenna this week
This is what it is goin to be, quad mag mount with a 17 inch comp style single coil 10k

What's it going on?....Usually close to the back of the roof will work the best. But on some roofs, the center works the best...The Bull wrote:well they say bigger is better so i went with bigger, no ribs on the roof to worry about on this roof, Where should it be mounted on the roof?

Either way will probably work just as well on that...center or near the back. I would probably go with "near the back" so you don't have as much coax flopping around on the roof! The Bull wrote:It's on a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab

Haven't had the luck others have had using the tri mag with 22" predator. Can't get my swr's below 1.5 on one meter and the other is below 1.5 on my dosy test center which I don't believe in. I'm going by the Vanco meter and it's 1.5 to 1.6. The shaft part on the mag mount is about six inches in front of the third light. I think I will slide it back and check again.

on the 1500
should be pretty close to the third brakelight and in the middle not over to one or the othe side
once you get your swr as low as it will
then try picking it up and moving it forward a few inches and reclibrate and check swr
if it goes down a little move forward littlemore
also depending on the magmounts i have noticed
the center terminal does not like to be in close quarters with the ground or shielding of the coax
or close the the hood the magnets are touching
on some magmounts now other dont work and other do work but not all magmounts
