CB Mount
CB Mount
I need some ideas for mounting my CB in my 2003 Ford Ranger. I made a little mount for it (if you've seen the pictures) and it just isn't doing the job. It tends to want to fall over if I make a sharp turn. I am looking for something in the way of a hump mount since there isn't any room under the dashboard to mount it. There isn't any carpeting on the floor. It has that plastic flooring instead so those saw-tooth mounts wouldn't work. Other than that, it may be back out into the garage to put my amateur woodworking skills back to work!
Kriket Kamel radio mount, old school hump mount, Kritet made the best radio speakers for years, I guess they went out of business'''see more pics here

Ditto that. I lagged screwed a couple sizable strut "L" brackets into my Dodge on the hump, using extension brackets to move the radio bracket where I want it. It's very easily accessed when driving and quite frankly not noticable when removed (which I've done). Nothing more distracting than watching everything shift on a corner or slamming on the brakes. I don't worry about that anymore.THUMPER wrote:WHY BOLT IT JUST GET SELF TAPING SCREWS TO HOLD IT TO THE FLOOR
Lots of stuff you can do though. Sorry, I haven't seen your specific set up...but I think much of it depends on how much channel surfing you do. I do lots...so like the radio very accessible.

I used velcro and actually velcroed one radio behind my seats to the carpet. with this one, I used the bracket and attached it to the underside of the dash.
Okay, I have done autocross and pulled well over a peak G with this radio in the car, and it has not acted like it's going to fall off in any way.I assure the bracket that comes with the radio can take whatever you can dish out so long as you mount it correctly.

I don't know if your trk has a factory installed little plastic cup holder/console or not. My 98 did and I removed it and put in place the 1X to attach everything to. I used the same mount holes as the factory.

I cut up and bent a piece of aluminum that goes in front of the middle seat. The mounting holes are slotted so it fits between the bottom of the seat and the seat mount. The bolts that hold the seat down pinch it between the seat cushion and framework. With the slotted holes, I can loosen the bolts and slide it right out. Hope this helps. I know there are a few Dodge guys doing this.
I used a couple of short lag screws, garage door hinge screws, to bolt a "U" bracket made from flat stock to the tranny hump through the carpet. It's held well for the last 2-3 years.
